FLIGHT INFORMATION REGION - Pilot/Controller Glossary

📢 This glossary was created to be a dynamic version of the Pilot/Controller Glossary published by the FAA. Because the FAA now maintains its own dynamic version of the Pilot/Controller Glossary, this version is no longer updated.

Term:	FLIGHT INFORMATION REGION
Meaning:	An airspace of defined dimensions within which Flight Information Service and Alerting Service are provided. Flight Information Service. A service provided for the purpose of giving advice and information useful for the safe and efficient conduct of flights. Alerting Service. A service provided to notify appropriate organizations regarding aircraft in need of search and rescue aid and to assist such organizations as required.
