AUTOMATED MUTUAL-ASSISTANCE VESSEL RESCUE SYSTEM
Meaning: A facility which can deliver, in a matter of minutes, a surface picture (SURPIC) of vessels in the area of a potential or actual search and rescue incident, including their predicted positions and their characteristics.
