Why ROCKFISH
ARINC is headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay, where the striped bass is called the rockfish and is the state fish. The company has not published an origin; the local reference is the obvious one.
Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated (ARINC) is a foundational provider of transport communications and systems engineering headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. Since its establishment in 1929, the organization has been instrumental in developing the critical air-to-ground data networks and standardized avionics protocols that ensure global flight safety. While it does not operate a traditional commercial fleet, its callsign is often associated with the vital communication relays and test flights necessary for maintaining worldwide aviation infrastructure.
