Why BLUE STREAK
In the mid-1980s PSA Airlines was Jetstream International Airlines, flying as a Piedmont Commuter feeder with a long blue stripe down each aircraft to match Piedmont's jets. The stripe became the call sign, and the code JIA is the old name's initials. The PSA name came in 1995, when USAir gave its Ohio regional the name of the Pacific Southwest Airlines it had bought.
PSA Airlines is an American regional airline operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Airlines Group. Based in Dayton, Ohio (with a planned move to Charlotte), it flies exclusively under the American Eagle brand. The airline operates an all-Bombardier CRJ fleet.
