FAA Academy (MMAC)
The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center where all ATC training takes place.
Will Rogers World Airport (OKC)
The main commercial airport serving Oklahoma City, located directly adjacent to the Academy.
Walmart Supercenter (Mustang)
The primary grocery and home-goods run for students living in the Yukon/Mustang area. Just a short drive from the Academy.

A very popular, clean Target location located in Moore, right next to the major South OKC housing clusters.

Perfect for buying bulk supplies if you are sharing a crashpad with other trainees in the Moore/South OKC area.

Located in the historic Stockyards City, this legendary steakhouse is a must-visit OKC staple that has been serving since 1910.
Clark Crew BBQ
An award-winning, world-champion BBQ joint located on the NW Expressway. Frequently considered the absolute best barbecue in the entire state.
Ma Der Lao Kitchen
Nationally recognized and James Beard nominated, offering incredible and authentic Lao cuisine in the Plaza District.
Tamashii Ramen House
Arguably the best ramen in the state. Expect a line, but the rich, authentic bowls are absolutely worth the wait.

Located on the 49th floor of the Devon Tower. Offers unmatched 360-degree views of the city. Highly recommend their phenomenal weekday lunch buffet!
Patty Wagon
A local favorite for incredible, no-frills, absolutely delicious gourmet burgers located right off May Avenue.
Bricktown Entertainment District
OKC's primary dining and entertainment hub. Walk along the canal, visit the dueling piano bars, or catch a Dodgers minor league baseball game.
Cowboys OKC
A wildly popular country dance hall and club. Features live bull riding, line dancing, and a massive dance floor.
Paycom Center
Catch an NBA game and watch the OKC Thunder play. A must-do if you are here during basketball season!
Topgolf OKC
Climate-controlled hitting bays for year-round golf, great food, and drinks. A fantastic group activity for your class.
Riversport OKC
Urban whitewater rafting, surfing, zip-lining, and climbing right in the heart of the city on the Oklahoma River.
Chisholm Creek
A premier entertainment district in North OKC featuring dining, shopping, and entertainment venues in a walkable outdoor setting.
Earlywine Park
A massive park in South OKC featuring miles of walking trails, an aquatic center, and a golf course. Perfect for unwinding after a stressful day of training.
Turner Falls Park
The largest waterfall in Oklahoma, nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains. A great weekend day-trip for swimming and hiking.
Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
Incredible hiking, scenic drives, and free-roaming bison herds. About 90 minutes from the Academy.
Scissortail Park
A beautiful 70-acre urban park in downtown OKC. Features paddle boats, a great lawn, and frequent weekend farmers markets.
Lake Hefner
Over 9 miles of paved trails circling the lake. Beautiful sunsets, great running paths, and excellent waterfront restaurants.
Myriad Botanical Gardens
A stunning 15-acre natural escape in the center of downtown. Features a spectacular glass conservatory and sunken lake.
Direct Billing vs. Per Diem
Many specialized OKC providers are set up to handle Centrally Billed Accounts (CBA). This means they bill the FAA directly for your lodging, so you never have to float thousands of dollars out-of-pocket while waiting for reimbursement.
The FAA Shuttle Route
The FAA typically does not authorize rental cars for new hires. Fortunately, official shuttle buses service the most common housing areas daily. Prioritize housing providers that are explicitly located on an established FAA Shuttle Route.
Guests & Pets (Crashpads vs. Private)
Crashpads are fantastic for built-in study groups, but because they are shared environments, they universally enforce strict "No Overnight Guests" and "No Pets" policies. If you are bringing a spouse or pets, you must seek out private apartments or houses.
"Turn-Key" Living
Specialized FAA housing isn't just furnished—it's turn-key. Reputable providers supply literally everything down to the silverware, coffee makers, and linens. Don't overpack household items; you typically only need your clothes, toiletries, and study materials.
📋 The Official Courtesy Housing List
The FAA Academy Student Services office maintains a localized, alphabetized housing directory. However, the FAA does not endorse, sponsor, or hold contracts with any of the providers on their list. Providers simply meet a basic 30-mile radius requirement and agree to allow penalty-free early departures.
Because the FAA does not vet these properties for quality, it is critical that you do your own heavy research. You can access the official list online or through the ASIS intranet portal once you receive your Firm Offer.

Shuttle services are completely free but strictly reserved for Academy students and federal personnel. To board, you must have appropriate credentials ready (e.g., your FAA Welcome Letter, PIV Badge, or Student ID).
